“PARALEGAL TRAINING: A QUEST FOR LEARNING, THE RESOLVE TO IMPROVE”
April 24 – 27, 2024 – 9:00 to 5:00 p.m.
Course Description: The Training Seminar is a two-day event where participants will be taught, get a refresh of or be updated with the fundamentals of certain substantive and procedural laws that they commonly encounter in their paralegal work or jobs. The webinar will also provide invaluable tips and learning points on how to do effective legal writing and research. Finally, it will feature a set of workshops focused on a number of topics or areas of paralegal knowledge, skills and processes. At the end of Day 2 of the training program, the participants shall be given a standard evaluation form, a copy of which is hereto attached, where the training program shall be assessed on such key areas as ‘general impression’, ‘training content’, ‘training method’, ‘usefulness of the training program’, ‘understanding’ and ‘training handout’, with a portion allotted for the participants’ comments thereon.
Target Participants: Paralegals, Legal Assistants, Legal Secretaries and Legal Researchers working in both government agencies, offices and instrumentalities as well as in the private sector.
Performance Objectives: 1. Throughout the course of the training seminar, the Subject Matter Expert (SME) shall endeavor to deliver and cascade the content of the course to the participants in the clearest and most practicable way possible,
2. as well as to provide to the participants sound perspectives and thoughts on their career as paralegals, its importance to their well-being and self-fulfillment, as well as possible career options or career paths in their future.
Learning Objectives:
By the end of this course, Paralegals/ Legal Officers / Legal Assistants /Legal Researchers/Legal Secretaries:
- Will be able to recall, identify or restate their knowledge of fundamental precepts of substantive law that any Filipino paralegal must be aware of;
- Will be able to recall, discover and apply the different sets of procedural rules of law to situations, whether actual or hypothetical;
- Will be able to apply, demonstrate and develop their paralegal skills, consisting of the proper construction and interpretation of statutes, rules
and regulations, their sound application to the ‘facts of the case’ and basic, simple legal writing or communication;
- Will be able to describe, explain, define and visualize the different perspectives on the role of paralegals and the essence of their work and contribution; and
- Will be able to define and formulate their objectives and goals for their present career as paralegals as well as for a future of career
options and growth.
